The gross proceeds of the The Rory David Deutsch Foundation for the period September 30, 2011 through March 1, 2013 are close to $370,000.00. This raised the total fundraising dollars, since our inception, to nearly $7,500,000.00.

Our family event “tricks + treats & stars for Rory” held at Fields BMW in Northfield, Illinois on October 28, 2013 generated close to $210,000.00. A heartfelt thanks goes to Fields BMW and to all those who participated in the event.

Once again, The Rory David Deutsch Foundation was the grateful recipient of several fundraising efforts from various supporters across the nation, city, and northern suburbs. Barry Bakal’s 100 holes of golf in one day raised almost $28,000.00. From their race in the fall of 2012, The Paulina Cooper Dot-to-Dot race in Overland Park, Kansas has made The Rory David Deutsch Foundation the beneficiary of $28,000.00. JAB Produce’s annual “Rory Day” continues to reap benefits by raising $12,000.00. Indian Trail School in Highland Park, Rory’s elementary school, formulated a race for teacher and student participation called “Ragnar Race for Rory”. This activity generated close to $9,200.00 for our cause. Barry Elkes organized a Kick-A-thon and raised $6,300.00. The DECA Club from Highland Park, High School, through their business activities, generously donated $3,700.00.

General donations to The Foundation accounted for close to $100,000.00. These came from a host of individuals and organizations. Many readers of our previous newsletters, “Reaching Out”, responded generously to the coupon included. Others purchased our all-occasion donation cards that added the sum of $5,000.00; these can be purchased for $5.00 each. For a more generous donation, personal letters of Happy Day and Memorial can be sent for the appropriate occasion. These acknowledgements have generated another $6,000.00. The cards and letters can be purchased by calling The Foundation office at 1(888) 919-RORY or by visiting our website at www.roryd.org.

We have donated $2,400,000.00 of a $3,000,000.00 pledge to Duke University and $1,000,000.00 to The Ann & Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago. In addition, Dr. Oren Becher, the Rory David Deutsch Scholar, became a part of the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center as a result of our $500,00.00 donation made to Duke University. Our 2013 pledge of $200,00.00 to Duke University will be made at the semi annual Brain Tumor Meeting in April of 2013. This pledge will complete a fully endowed professorship at Duke University, in Rory’s memory, to be established at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center. Together each of these milestones guarantees that The Foundation will go on in perpetuity and make our dream that much closer to a reality–a cure for the devastating disease that took our beloved Rory much too soon.
